I've
uploaded a new mission called Drakh Raid. It's based on
the Shadow Attack 2 mission, but this time you get to fight
the Drakh near Brakiri space. To use this mission you
will need the models for the Drakh mothership, Drakh fighter
and Brakiri cruiser. These models are available from the
Buda5 website. The new mission is available on the
Missions page.

I've
updated the Shadow Attack 2 mission to use a new rescaled
Whitestar. In fact, I rescaled almost everything in that
mission to be in line with the proper sizes. I've posted
a few comparison screenshots of the Whitestar on the
Screenshots page. The new mission file includes the
required ship file.

The
Psi-Corps mission has been updated to use the new rescaled
Omega-X destroyer. To use the new mission, you will need
the updated destroyer as well. The link has been updated
on the Missions page.
I've
finished reworking the Omega-X destroyer. It has a few
new textures and looks much better than the first
version I did. I've also updated the three Destroyer
packs with proper collision models. This will enable
them to read damage and collisions correctly in my
missions. These updates are on the Destroyers
page. I've posted a couple of screenshots of the new
Omega-X. Some are hard to make out, but it looks good in
the game. The new pics are on the Screenshots
page.
For
those that have been having problems starting my missions due
to the missing badger.lwo file, I've included the original
badger model in my NewBadgers.zip. The file is also
available on the Buda5 site under models, EA fighters.
The file has been updated on the Fighters page. On
another note, has anyone been experiencing strange problems
with my missions? Like being unable to control the
fighters? If so, could you please drop me a line
describing the problem and which missions it occurs in?
Thanks.

Finally,
I've got some more updates. I've been working on
rescaling the capital ships so that they are the proper scale
when compared to the Starfurys. This required rewriting
the ship script for the Omega, Hyperion and Nova. While
I was at it, I made some improvements to them as well.
For all of the ships, all weapons mounts now
work. Makes attacking them a little more
interesting. They have proper firing arcs and work
fairly well. I also made sure the engines would fire
correctly for these ships when they maneuver. I've
taken the hangar texture from the Nova and replaced my old one
for the Omega. Looks a whole lot better now. I
used all of these improvements for updated versions of the
Martial Law missions. The new mission file contains all
of the needed files. I will update the rest of the
missions with the new ships next. The Martial Law
missions have been changed quite a bit from the previous
versions. Some of it was necessary due to the changes to
the ships, some of it was streamlining. I've
written the ships so that all sections can now be damaged and
collided with. I've posted a few screenshots to show
off the scale. The pics are available on the
Screenshots page.

I've
corrected
the problems with the low poly models for the fighters.
Now the texture will show up at all ranges. I've moved
the fighters over to another server. The links on the
Fighters page have been updated. All of the fighters
have been updated with the new models.

A
new
message board has been created and is available under the
Forums section. Visitors can post feedback, suggestions,
ideas, or just say "Hi". I've updated several
of my missions. I've corrected some details on the
Shadow Attack, Shadow Attack2, Psi Corps and Raider Attack
Missions. I think they are improvements over the
previous versions. I've added a new section to the
Martial Law missions. For those that feel the travel
time to the Jump point is overly dull, now you have something
to do :-) . The links on the Missions page have been
updated. Drop me a line and tell me what you think.

New
versions of all missions have been uploaded to the
servers. I've re-written the Martial Law missions to
make modifications easier and to use the new Badger code for
the player. I've made similar modifications to the
Severed Dreams mission. In all missions I've included
code that makes the weapons a little more accurate. In
the missions that use the Badger, the player now has the
assistance of the rear gunner. The gunner will fire at
any enemy contact that comes within range of the aft firing
arc. This helps out a little when you get a bunch of
fighters on your tail. The links on the missions page
have all been updated. The Severed Dreams update is in
the Dreams_update.zip and not the large main mission
file. I've also updated the ShipScript files on the
Misc. page to include the new Badger files.
I've
re-uploaded a version of the Ship script files. After
doing some more testing with missions that contain a lot of
fighters, I found it was too much for I-War's engine and was
crashing the game. As they say, Oh well, nice try.
So here are the versions without the engine sound. I've
included a couple of files that will be required in an
upcoming mod I'm making for the Badger fighter. My
intention is to get the rear gunner to do something besides
sit there. I mean, that's why you've got the Badger in
the first place right? I've got it working in one
mission for the player's ship, I'm still working on a few
other ideas with it however. I will post more
information when it's available.

I've
uploaded a newer version of the Ship script files. I've
attached an engine sound effect to some of the
fighters. I think it adds a little more ambiance to the
game. The link has been updated on the Misc. page.
The new file includes the required sound file.
I've
uploaded updated versions of the Ship script files. I've
made the fighters acceleration a little more realistic.
I think it's a little more playable now. The rates are
about three quarters of what I had previously. The new
file has replaced the old one on the Misc. page. I've
uploaded new versions of the Severed Dreams missions.
I've updated the original and made two new versions of the
mission in which you fly a Badger or Thunderbolt as well as
the original Aurora version. All three versions have a
few new features and a bug fix that could cause a crash if you
tried to give wingman orders late in the mission. The
updates are all included in the new version of the
Dreams_update.zip file. You still will need the files in
the Original Severed_Dreams.zip file, but the updates should
overwrite any existing files. I am using the Tigerbolt
in one of the versions of the mission, so you must have that
file too. It is located on the Fighters page. The
links to the Severed Dreams updates have replaced the old ones
on the Missions page.

I've
uploaded an updated version of the Shadow Attack2 mission. I
made a few minor changes to add some sound effects. I've
revised my B5CU utility to include the option for green
weapons as well. I've also completed and uploaded the
I-War v1.24 version of the utility. The updated
downloads are available on the Misc. page. I removed the
links to the Newweapons files as the files are included along
with the B5CU utility.
I've
uploaded a new version of the Shadow Attack mission.
This is a completely new mission changed in a lot of
ways. This time you get to pilot a Whitestar. You
might last a little bit longer. The mission is available
on the Missions page.

| 10/14/2000 |
I've
uploaded a little utility program I wrote today to make the
weapons configuration easier. The utility includes all
of the files in the I-War Mission Launcher by Entopy. It
can be used to configure the game exe to make the weapons
normal, blue or red. The file contains all the required
files and library's. Just extract it to your Defiance
root dir. I will be making an I-War v1.24 compatible
version shortly. The utility can be found on the Misc.
page.

I've
made a new version of the Omega-X destroyer. This
version uses the hangar bay texture I've used on the standard
Omega class destroyer and removes the gap between the hull
sections. I've updated the Psi-Corps mission to use this
model, so it is now required to run that mission. The
new destroyer is available on the Destroyers page.
I've
made some improvements to the "Flying Tiger's"
Thunderbolt.
The link has been updated on the fighters page.
I've
uploaded a new version of the SA-26 Thunderbolt. The
"Flying Tiger's". I've also updated the Psi-Corps
mission to use the new fighter.
The links have been updated on their respective pages.

I've
completed updated versions of all my missions. Some have
minor improvements or changes, others like the Shadow Attack
mission have been completely reworked. I've added a new
link to the updates for the Severed Dreams mission. You
will still need the main 6MB file, but if you already have it,
just download the small update. If you don't have it,
download both.
The links have been updated on the Missions page.
I've
uploaded the Severed Dreams mission to a new server.
Evidently Geocities must have thought the file was Warez or
something. They killed access to it. So, from now
on I will be uploading all of my larger files to a different server. It has full support for resume-able
downloads and Download Managers such as GoZilla and Download Accelerator.
The link has been updated on the Missions page.

I've
made a minor change to the Psi-Corps mission, I modified it so
that the Omega-X Destroyer now has guns like the regular
Omega's do. The mission file contains the new model
needed for the guns. It has replaced the older file on
the Missions page.
Using
a very cool video clip by Zoltan Pentelencik, I have revamped
and improved the Severed Dreams mission. The download is
a little hefty, about 6MB, but I think it's pretty cool. The
mission is available on the Missions page, and has replaced
the older download. It should be noted, the talent of
the entire Buda5 team is involved in these missions, as I am
learning from there examples. On another note, for those
that are having trouble launching custom missions, I have
added the link to Entropy's site which has an excellent I-War
mission launcher.

I've
corrected the problem with the NewWeapons files on the Misc.
page. They are now a single zip file that contains a
replacement Defiance executable. The new files are up on
the Misc. page. I will post the I-War versions soon.
A
few updates for today. First, I've improved the textures
for the Hyperion Heavy cruiser. The new file has
replaced the old one on the Destroyers page. Second,
I've put together the third pack of Omega class
destroyers. This one contains the Achilles, Apollo,
Archeron and Zeus. The file is available on the
Destroyers page. And Third, I've uploaded three new
models/textures for the Belt Alliance Zephyr 109
fighter. The file is available on the Fighters page.

Just a
quick tip that I discovered. If you are using a download
manager such as Download Accelerator or GoZilla, they don't
seem to want to work properly with this server. They
keep trying to log into the ftp site. Not a good
thing. Just temporarily disable them while you are
downloading files from this site. None of my files are
much over half a meg anyway. If anyone has a solution
for this problem, drop me a line. |

More
updates for today. I've finished working on the Black
Omega variants for the SA-25 Badger and SA-26
Thunderbolt. A screenshot of the Thunderbolt is up on
the Screenshots page. I also used the new fighters in an
updated version of the Psi Corps mission. So, to use the
new version, you will need the new Fighter pack. The new
fighters are available on the Fighters page, and the updated
Psi Corps mission has replaced the old download on the
Missions page.
I
have just finished updated versions of the ship script
files. I think I have them all now. The file has
replaced the old one on the Misc. page.
I have just finished updated versions of two missions. B5:
Raider Attack and B5: Psi Corps. They are much better
than the first versions. The new files have replaced the
old ones on the Missions page.

fighters, destroyers and misc. stuff will be up by the
weekend. |
